Scrap prices dropping in Taiwan
Taiwan’s scrap prices have plummeted by NT$2,300/ton over the last 10 days, in line with dropping Japanese scrap price.
Steel mills now are holding plentiful stocks, and some of them have stopped purchasing. To cut scrap prices further will be easy for them, said a market participant.
Feng Hsin has cut its scrap purchasing prices for 5 days in a row, by a total of NT$1,800/ton. Moreover, the company is reducing it again by NT$500/ton, bringing the price cut to NT$2,300/ton.
Feng Hsin cuts scrap purchasing prices again
Taiwan’s Feng Hsin Iron & Steel Corp. is cutting its scrap purchasing prices again by NT$500/ton today.
The move brings the company’s purchasing prices to around NT$14,600~156,000/ton, compared to it was at high of NT$20,400~21,400/ton.
Steel mills now are still holding plentiful stocks, and some of them have stopped purchasing.
