on September 10th, 2008 at 3:55 pmJapanese scrap stocks down – At the end of June, stocks of Japanese plants and traders totaled 3.151 million tons, an increase of 2.7 percent compared to the same period last year and 76,000 tons or 2.4 percent less than the previous month.
Japanese total stocks of scrap were 3.227 million tons in early June, but it reduces by 76,000 tons to 3.151 million tons at the end of June.
Russian scrap imports down in H1 – From January to June, Russia imported steel scrap at 3,982,000 tons, dropped by 201,000 tons than last June.
It is predicted that the total export for the whole year will reach 7,964,000 tons.
The main import countries include Turkey at 1,738,000 tons, Spain at 579,000 tons and Korea at 422,000 tons. The three biggest import countries account for 70.3% of total export.
In addition, other import countries for Russian steel scraps are Egypt at 132,000 tons, Moldova at 129,000 tons and Greece at 106,000 tons.
