Italian scrap price rises
Because the Italian local mills faced the issue of supply shortage in scrap, scrap price climbed sharply in the local market in the past few weeks.

Currently, the Italian scrap price was highest in EU market.

As vacation is approaching, many local mills started purchasing scrap for production in 2009.

The current scrap was about €270-280/ton, excluding VAT, in Italian market. The price is predicted to rise further by estimated €20/ ton, as the mills will resume their production in Q1, 2009.
