Japanese scrap exports decline in November

According to the related statistics, Japan exported 349,000 tons of scrap in November, down by 29.7 percent compared to that of the same period last year.

Moreover, Japan exported 5.051 million tons of scrap in the first 11 months, declined by year-on-year 16.1 percent.

China was the biggest export destination at 2.339 million tons, up by year-on-year 9.8 percent. Shipments to Korea totaled 2.337 million tons, decreased by 26.7 percent from last year.

In addition, Japan exported 199,000 tons of scrap in the first 11 months of 2008, dropped by 59.3 percent compared to that of the same period of 2007.

America’s scrap exports soar by 37.9% in first 10 months

America exported 19.082 million tons of scrap in the first 10 months, up by 37.9 percent compared to that of the same period last year.

Turkey was the biggest export destination at 3.445 million tons, up by 27.6 percent from last month. Shipments to Korea totaled 2.539 million tons, increased by 126 percent from a year earlier.

Taiwan imported 2.444 tons of scrap from America, increased by 81.8 percent from last year. Moreover, Canada occupied 1.576 million tons, and Malaysia occupied 1.272 million tons.
