Japanese H2 scrap average price down

During the fourth week of November, Japanese H2 scrap average price in the Kanto region, middle part and Kansai region was ï¿¥23,804/ton, dropped by ï¿¥156/ton than previous week.

H2 scrap price in Kanto region was ï¿¥25,000/ton, dropped by ï¿¥167/ton than previous week; that in middle part was ï¿¥22,180/ton, up by ï¿¥200/ton; the price in Kansai region was ï¿¥24,233/ton, down by ï¿¥500/ton from the previous week.

Japan’s scrap export surges duing Jan-Oct

According to the statistics, Japan’s scrap export during Jan-Oct in 2009 was 8.3 million tons, surging by 76 percent compared with the same period of 2008. The scrap export during 2009 is estimated to reach 9.97 million tons.

The main importers of Japan’s scrap are China and South Korea. China imported about 4.4 million tons of scrap during January to October, and South Korea imported about 3.31 million tons. China’s scrap import from Japan grows to more than double from last year.
