Steel price started moving upward as the fourth quarter is approaching, which is the high season for construction market.
Demands on long products, such as wire rod and rebar, are relatively strong than that on steel flat.
Lately, the domestic rebar price has rebound by 3.25 percent to RMB4099/ton from previous one.

Last week, HRC price didn’t rebound from the bottom as steel suppliers expected amid sluggish demands and anticipated price fall on iron ore and coal for the fourth quarter.

Recently, American steel mills like Severstal North America, US Steel, Arcelormittal, Nucor Corporation announced to lift the price for cold-rolled sheet again.
The major U.S steel mills have decided to lift the price for cold-rolled sheet by US$40/short ton.

Although the steel seller tried to increase the price on hot rolled coil in Shanghai spot market today, most of buyers would rather hold off buying due to weak demand.

As steel price slid, China Iron & Steel Association (CISA) reported that the profit of China’s steel industries in July dropped to RMB2.86 billion by 54 percent from last month and even by 73 percent year-on-year.

Taiwan’s Evergreen Marine Corp. is planning to purchase 10 container vessels from China Shipbuilding Corporation (CSBC), which needs 300,000 tons of shipbuilding usage steel plates from China Steel Corp. (CSC).
