Scrap prices surge according to an article at YIEH, United States scrap prices surged substantially from a week ago.
It was reported that the average prices of H1 scrap in Pittsburgh, Chicago and Philadelphia were at US$ 372.50/long ton on March 11st, 2013, jumping by US$25.33/ton from a week ago. Among them, the average H1 scrap prices in Pittsburgh were at US$369.5/long ton, soaring by US$30/long ton; those in Chicago were at US$384.50/long ton, rising by US$36/long ton and those in Philadelphia was at US$363.5/long ton, increasing by US$10/long ton, all compared to the prices in a week earlier. In the given period of time, the average H1 scrap in New York, Boston, and Houston were at US$316.17 /long ton, increasing by US$5/long ton from a week ago.
